Robert "Shorty" Sheridan Freeman - The Chattanoogan

A lifelong resident of the Ringgold area, and he was of the Baptist faith. He was a former employee of the U.S. Postal Service where he worked for 22 years and was a veteran of the U.S. Marines and the U.S. Army. He was preceded in death by his parents, Willard Sheridan Freeman Sr. and Minnie Elizabeth Jenkins Freeman; three brothers, Willard Freeman Jr., Richard Freeman, and Rupert Freeman; and two sisters, Ruby Freeman and Evelyn Haire. He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Wanda Freeman of Ringgold; three children, Pam (Gary) Lane of Soddy Daisy, Paula (Danny) Forgey of Chattanooga, and Jason Robert Freeman of Ringgold; sister, Ruth Love of Ringgold; six grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews. Graveside services will be held at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, July 26, at Anderson Memorial Gardens in Ringgold. The family will receive friends Tuesday from 5-8 p.m. and Wednesday from 9 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. at the funeral home. Arrangements are by Wilson Funeral Home Wallis-Stewart Chapel, Ringgold. Perry, Mary Ann (Chickamauga) - The Chattanoogan

Mary was extremely active in her community, she became a member of Walker County CERT in 2005, served as president of CERT from 2008 to present. Mary was a member of Walker County Sheriff’s Citizen Academy in 2012. Mary was also active in the Red Cross and was known for various other volunteer activities. She was preceded in death by her child Katie Rae Cline, her parents Clarence and Marie Jefferies, and siblings Joe Jefferies and Doris Wolford. Mary is survived by her husband, Johnny Perry and her two children, her devoted daughter, Robbi L. Cline and her son Dustin Johnson. Mary had two grandchildren, Heidi Jo and Marley Johnson. Additionally, Mary is survived by her siblings Patsy Bruce, Marjorie Powell, Brenda Dickson and two brothers, Dan and Terry Jefferies. It must be mentioned that Mary had several wonderful friends that meant so much to her. Many thanks to Jody Payne, Nadine Gilliland, David Ashburn and the Carroll Family. Finally, the family would like to thank Hospice of Chattanooga for the care given to Mary during her illness. The family will receive friends from 4-8 p.m. on Tuesday, April 4, at the funeral home. She was a member of Macedonia Baptist Church.She was preceded in death by her father and mother, J. C. Harmon and Gladys Cook Harmon; first husband, George Collian Cochran; second husband, Roy Monroe Turnipseed; two sisters, Nellie West and Florene “Flossy” Lindsey.She is survived by her daughter, Tammy R. Anderson; one grand daughter, Ashlea Anderson; three sisters, Frankie Brown, Betty Hasty and Patsy White; four brothers, Charles Harmon, Troy Harmon, Larry Harmon and Ronald Harmon; brother-in-law, Bobby Lindsey; and several nieces and nephews.Family will receive friends on Friday, Feb. 10, from 5-9 p.m. at the Fort Oglethorpe Chapel of Wilson Funeral Home.Funeral services will be held on Saturday, Feb. 11, at 12 p.m. in the funeral home chapel with Reverend Billy Joel Cochran officiating. Interment will follow in the Macedonia Baptist Church Cemetery.
